It’s really annoying I totally know what you are talking about, maybe you should just minimize your question and then whenever someone is reading pull up this question and examine it.

Type whatever you were typing blah blah blah this annoying person won’t stop reading over my shoulder and I’m going to smack them in 3 seconds…1…2…
Hopefully by then they will leave. If you aren’t typing try blasting some really loud and annoying music right in their face.

I usually tell them in a nice way and if it happens again then it will be a hard reminder to them.

OH I HATE THAT when the daughter of a friend of my mom’s comes here she sits next to me in the computer and starts reading what i write in the IM worst of all she reads it out loud ughh i hate her!!!!!!! A nice way to stop that is to leave the computer as if u were finished; close everything and turn off the monitor maybe that way they’ll get the message!

start typing stuff about how u wish they would stop looking over your shoulder at what your typing.

easiest is to burp and blow in their direction or just fart. they’ll surely avoid you after that.

Be ferocious and shout out an instruction to resist them from gruffing wrongly since they are rude people.Be hard on them.

set your screen saver - preferably a dizzying design- to 1 minute.
Or set the screen saver to scrolling message- the message being:
Please stop standing over my shoulder you are blocking the light.
as soon as they come over your shoulder stop typing for 60 seconds and the message will pop up.

Tell him that you must well read it out for me and if you are free ,you will in return read for him.

These kind of people should be tackled once for all. Switching off the monitor could work once only and if they habitual than they should be treated in other way.

For permanent remedy just ask them very gently May I read your very much personal documents e.g. Love Letter, Official Explanation Letter, Show Cause Letter, Salary Document or Divorce Notice etc.
And than immediately after your gentle tone ask them in angry tone why they were interested in your personal documents?.

3M corp has filters you can buy that are polarized and you have to be looking straight at the screen to see it,……that keeps anyone outside of 3 degrees looking at your screen. Or, you could build a plywood box deep enough that the screen is so far inset that only you can see it,……or find some plywood and hammer nails through it and turn them upside down and place them around you when you’re typing, just rememeber you put them there when you get up to go to the bathroom!

I personally don’t think you should have to do things like minimize your screen or type in white font until they leave… I think that you should just tell them to stop. It is rude and disrespectful and your privacy should not be invaded like that. If they have sense (which apparently they don’t) they will understand, if not, screw them. But it will probably keep them away though…
